Description

Three late 18th cnetury ferry causeways crossed the San Sebastian River at South Kingsferry, and Bridge Streets, and remains of the Kingsferry crossing still were evident on aerial views taken in the 1960's. A number of modest houses were constructed on the high ground along the west side of heavily-traveled Riberia Street in the 1880's, some of which extended west along the Kingsferry causeway. In the early 20th century, the Marsh Lots also served as the City Dump, and stables and an oyster factory were built in the area.
This one-story Frame and Masonry Vernacular residence at 226 Riberia Street was constructed between 1971 and 1924. A commercial addition was constructed after 1930.
