Title

Affidavit
[Pablo Rogers]
Corporal; Born in St. Augustine, Fla. Enlisted June 16, 1863; Discharged on May 12, 1866, at Morris Island, SC; Incurred frostbite of the left foot; Occupation, Fisherman. Married to Dolly Rogers; Died age 85; Cause of Death, Senility. Fernandina, Fla; December 5, 1910

Subject

"I was a enlisted man and had a family when I was in the Army. I was a free born man...my first wife died during the war. I did not marry again until I married Dolly” -Pablo Rogers.
These claims are refuted ten years later by his wife (Dolly Rogers) and Friend (Charles McCrea) in their depositions for his widow’s pension claim. The testimony is contradictory as he cannot provide accuracy on his accounts which can be a result of his "senility.”
“I couldn’t tell you about my age. I was a boy six years old when the stars fell. My post office address is Fernandina, Fla. Ever since I come out of the army I has been a fisherman. I was born and raised on St. Augustine, Fla. I was a soldier during the war of the rebellion. I joined here at Fernandina, Fla. I enlisted in C. A. 21st Rgt. U.S.C.T. [Company A, 21st Regiment, United States Colored Troops]. I do not remember the date I enlisted. I do not remember the date of my discharge. I was in the Army" -Pablo Rogers
